Much more than a farm school

The traditional farm school

The traditional farm school was created with the intention of showing children in the cities a set of elements such as the vegetable garden and the farm that, with the transition from the rural to the urban environment, have been lost in the last decades of the 20th century.

The farm school houses groups of animals such as chickens, turkeys, pigs, and horses—animals that were part of the farmhouse environment, the nerve center of agricultural production. These animals provided food for people of that time in the form of eggs, milk, or meat.

Granja escuela, mucho más

Furthermore, in all cases, the supply of fruit and vegetables was obtained directly from the cultivation of the land near the building. The orchard has two sections: fruit trees and vegetables. Each season, the varieties grown are those adapted to the prevailing climate. There are two main seasons, each with its own orchard: winter and summer.

This is the setting for Explora Natura, where the farm school recreates these rural scenes. But in our interest in finding a new way to introduce children to the rural world and nature, we've taken a different approach to enhance these learning and knowledge opportunities, creating something more.

We present to you the farm school of the future

Here you'll find animals and a vegetable garden, just like any other farm school. But what the children will discover goes far beyond that. Here, there are no physical limits to learning, and while enjoying innovative activities like those about Primitive Man, we'll also observe the flight of birds of prey such as the vulture or the golden eagle, which we've been fortunate enough to have chosen a place near the School of Naturalists to breed.

In addition, the children will become familiar with the species of small birds that sing and flutter above us, as we have experts in the field of ornithology, botany, and nature in general.

It's so much more. Here, you'll not only learn how to care for olive trees using traditional techniques, but you'll also discover a fascinating world of plants that can be used for food, medicine, or even as painting materials. And that's not all—we have many more leisure and learning activities that will transport you to a new world of knowledge.

We are a farm school, but not just any farm school: we are the farm school of the present and the future. On our end-of-year trips, camps, and school of naturalists Besides introducing children to rural life, we want to introduce them to the natural world. We want to go further. Much further.

We have hundreds of activities to share with children and young people, who need to be the ones interacting with this environment, and it's essential that they understand it. And knowledge leads to respect.

We are fortunate to have a group of people who are leading figures in the field of nature. Many of our collaborators are environmental specialists in fields such as ornithology and mammal tracking. And we are not just Explora Natura. We are the Snake Refuge, Salarte, Manolo the Goatherd…

We feel responsible for carrying out a mission that contributes to building a better world for future generations. We don't want to fill the space with empty words, but with relevant actions.

We're just getting started, but every step we take makes us more convinced of what we have to contribute to society as a company. And you are part of this mission that we must achieve together.
